Your Own URL Shortener
Ahh, long URL are hard to share in a mobile world. I have always found it a bit cumbersome to have such a long URL (gregorybrickner.com 15 characters) which grows even longer when adding wordpress page links. Google and many social media services have all come up with their own URL shortener services. Bit.ly being one of the most popular. Why not preserve your brand and setup your own URL shortener? It is not really that hard.
1. Pick a domain
Short domains are hard to find so you will need to be creative. I picked up gwb.io which is 14 characters shorter than my existing domain.
2. YOURLS – http://yourls.org/
Install YOURLS on the domain.
