Emotions follow us wherever we go and greet us in every situation in life. We cannot escape them however in business we must deal with them. The calculation of profit is a mathematical equation that has a very logical and precise path that must be followed. In business though many situations push and pull to challenge the seemingly logical approach to the profit calculation because of the emotions we bring our day. If we were to recognize the emotions that are naturally in each business relationship and engagement we may be able to bring more success to the profit equation. Success in the...

Upon graduating from college I took a temp job with a local business doing basic accounts receivable reconciliations and research. The job w as rather mundane and uneventful but it did leave a scar on me. My assignment manager was a super nice lady th at was very experienced and likely overworked. Her office was deplorable! The first time I walked in I was stopped about two feet in the door by stacks, upon stacks of paper printouts from the GL. She instructed me to have a seat and I politely moved a stack from the chair and placed it at her direction upon another stack. Gingerly stepped over...

Yes, you do have to wash your Vibram FiveFingers. Failure to do so will surely lead to be people not only thinking you look funny but also smell funny. I was a little nervous to toss the greatest pair of shoes I’ve owned in the wash. Most shoes I have put through the washing machine are not quite the same afterwards. I prefer another method for setting goals, although more difficult and arduous it has a higher proven chance of success.
Before I delve into sharing my view on goals, a moment for...

I just did something that I never thought I would do; I turned down about a pay raise. I guess when I say “never” I think I am speaking to the Greg from 5 years ago. The Greg that was out to conqur the world. I’ve grown up a lot since then and now I’m beginning to see what life is really about…..changing the world.
I turned the big 3-0 this year, I know it isn’t that I’m that old. I hope I am about 1/3 of the way through my long life which means I still have a lot of time to contribute to civilization. Steven Covey suggest we begin with the end in...
